Our Team
Dr. George Awad
Veterinarian
Dr. George is a compassionate and highly experienced veterinarian with over 20 years in the field of animal health. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1995 from the University of Alexandria in Egypt and has since built a diverse career spanning small and large animal practice, as well as pharmaceutical research.
In 2013, Dr. George completed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination, earning membership in both the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. He went on to spend three years at a busy mixed and small animal hospital in northern Ontario, where he gained extensive experience in emergency medicine and on-call care.
Since relocating to London, Ontario in 2018, Dr. George has worked in several veterinary hospitals across the city and surrounding areas, helping furry family members in need live healthier and happier lives. His professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, and emergency care.
Dr. George finds great fulfillment in playing a vital role in keeping four-legged family members healthy and thriving. He is a strong advocate for preventive care and proper nutrition as essential tools for maintaining long-term wellness and happiness in his patients. Known for his dedication and kindness, he consistently goes above and beyond to support the well-being of his patients and the satisfaction of their families.
Outside of work, Dr. George enjoys spending time with his wife Iriny, their children Maria and Mark, and the family’s beloved golden retriever, Alpha.
Tanisha
Veterinary Technician
Tanisha has been a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) since 2012 and is also certified as a dog trainer and groomer. She brings extensive experience from shelter medicine, high-volume veterinary clinics, rescue organizations, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, and animal welfare initiatives.
Tanisha is passionate about improving the lives of animals through compassionate, hands-on care and enjoys supporting community outreach programs that help pets and the people who love them.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Tanisha is a creative artist who specializes in custom painting commissions. She also enjoys singing, playing the ukulele and drums, photography, video games, theatre, spending time in nature, and travelling. Most of all, she values quality time with her pets, family, and friends.
Kayla
Veterinary Technician
Kayla knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Growing up on her family’s farms and volunteering at her local wildlife rehabilitation centre helped shape her passion for animals and their care.
She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College in 2022 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) that same year after successfully completing her board examination. Kayla continued her education, earning her bachelor’s degree, becoming a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator, and registering as a Veterinary Technologist in 2023.
After graduating, Kayla worked in Dryden, Northern Ontario, where she gained unique experience caring for a wide variety of animals—from companion animals to polar bears, snakes, and falcons.
Kayla eventually decided to return home to Ingersoll and joined the team at Southdale Animal Hospital in 2026, bringing with her a diverse background, a love of learning, and a strong passion for animal care.
Josée (“Jo”)
Veterinary Technician
Jo is a registered veterinary technician and has worked in the field since 2021. She is passionate about making sure all her patients feel as loved and comfortable as possible. She is Fear-Free and Cat-Friendly certified to better serve your anxious or nervous fur baby, She will always treat your dog or cat with gentle hands, patience and compassion.
Jo shares her home with her two kitties, Bliss & Poppy, her dog Sapphire, and far too many house plants. In her spare time Jo loves painting, making music and playing games
